India vs South Africa 1st ODI: Virat Kohli looked in great touch with the bat during the first ODI match between India and South Africa at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday. He produced an impressive effort to set the tone for India after they were put into bat first.

Kohli headed into the series against the Proteas on the back of a match-winning fifty in the third and final ODI against Australia. He carried on the momentum and capitalised on the opportunity with an impressive fifty. Virat reached the milestone with a magnificent six off Corbin Bosch in the 18th over.

As soon as Virat celebrated his fifty, Gautam Gambhir looked extremely satisfied, and his reaction went viral on social media.

India were off to a disappointing start after they were put into bat first, as Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by Nandre Burger for 18 runs in the fourth over. Virat and Rohit Sharma then recovered things for the hosts. While they took on the bowlers, the crowd in Ranchi loved the entertainment displayed by the veteran batters on their return to action. Virat and Rohit stitched a 136-run partnership for the second wicket.

The visitors got the big breakthrough in the 22nd over when Marco Jansen dismissed Rohit for 57 runs, which the former skipper scored in 51 balls on the back of five fours and three sixes.

India are being captained by KL Rahul as the regular captain, Shubman Gill remains out due to a neck injury he suffered during the two-match Test series.

"We would have bowled first as well. The preparation has been good, the energy is there with a lot of players coming back, and we want to enjoy ourselves in the middle. That's what the chat has been, we need to use every opportunity we get in the ODI team, this is a great chance to challenge our skills against a very good team. Three spinners and three quicks for us today," KL said after he lost the toss.
