Kohli, who turned 37 earlier this month, smashed the South African bowlers left, right and centre, sending them on a leather hunt. This was arguably the best Kohli has looked since his record-breaking performance at the 2023 World Cup, a knock that revived memories of his vintage dominance.

Having arrived in the middle early after India were put into bat first, Virat cleared his intentions with a few early boundaries. While he looked a bit rusty as well for a few deliveries, the legendary batter wasted no time stepping out and going aerial. He did it twice in the power play, once each against Nandre Burger and Ottneil Baartman. He even reached his fifty with an incredible six.
Apart from boundaries, Virat kept the scoreboard ticking with regular boundaries and stitched together a commanding 136-run partnership with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket. The legendary batter ended up playing an outstanding knock of 135 runs in 120 balls on the back of 11 fours and seven sixes as India posted a mammoth total of 349/8 in their 50 overs.
