India vs US T20 World Cup 2026: Ending the speculations, India captain Suryakumar Yadav announced that the prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the match against the USA in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
Suryakumar has confirmed that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the team's opening match, stating that the speedster is not well and Mohammed Siraj will replace him.
“Unfortunately, Bumrah is not well, so (Mohammed) Siraj is playing,” Suryakumar revealed at the time of the toss.

Mohammed Siraj has been added to India's T20 World Cup squad as a late replacement for Harshit Rana, who was ruled out due to a knee injury.
"We were looking to bat first. It looks good here. I played a lot of cricket here. There's a wind around as well, so I don't think there'll be a lot of dew later on. Of course, there'll be a little bit of pressure. We can't run away from that fact, but then, in the new tournament, we want to play the same way we've been playing in the last one or two years and continue the same thing. It's live before the game starts and I'm sure when we start batting, it will be more wild," he added.
The team is also coping with the absence of key players like Washington Sundar and Sanju Samson.
"We have Washington Sundar missing out, Sanju Samson missing out," the captain added.
United States of America skipper Monank Patel won the toss and opted to bowl against India.
