India vs West Indies 2nd Test: John Campbell and Shai Hope thwarted India's efforts in Delhi with a formidable 138-run unbeaten partnership, taking West Indies into Day 4 with losing two wickets in the second session in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

A resurgent West Indies orchestrated a dynamic comeback, spearheaded by John Campbell's unbeaten 87 and Shai Hope's 66*, to mount a strong challenge against India.

Asked to follow on after folding for 248 in their first innings, Campbell (87 batting;145 balls) and Hope (66 batting; 103b) showed character with an unbeaten 138-run stand to cut down India's lead to 97 runs when stumps were called.

The West Indies still need 97 runs to force India to bat again and avoid defeat by an innings margin.

In the first two sessions, Kuldeep Yadav's five-wicket haul (5/82) set the tone for India's sovereignty, as the West Indies were bundled out for 248 in their first innings.

West Indies resumed their innings after tea at 35/2, but Campbell shifted gears with an antagonistic approach, targeting Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav with a flurry of big shots to turn the game.

Encouraged by Campbell's attack, Hope also found his tempo, pulverising Kuldeep and Washington Sundar for boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking.

The spinners, lacking pace and bite from the surface, were pushed to use additional effort, but the toll of bowling 81.5 overs was evident in their delivery as exhaustion began to set in.

The duo were skillfully playing the spinners off the backfoot, with Hope striking eight fours and two sixes. Campbell, on his part, apart from two sixes, hit nine boundaries.
