Kolkata | Jagran Sports Desk: The Indian cricket team recently defeated Bangladesh in a two-match Test series to win their fourth consecutive innings win in Tests. After the win, skipper Kohli was all praises for BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and thanked him for establishing a winning culture in the Indian team in 2000s.
“The idea is to establish yourself in the middle and we have learnt to stand up and give it back. It all started with Dada's team and we are just carrying it forward,” Kohli said after the win.
However, former Indian skipper and legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t very much impressed with Kohli’s remark and took a dig at the current Indian skipper by saying that India were also winning in the '70s and '80s and Kohli wasn't born then.
“This is a fantastic win but I would like to make a point. The Indian captain said that this thing started in 2000 with Dada's (Ganguly's) team. I know Dada is the BCCI President, so maybe Kohli wanted to say nice things about him. But India were also winning in the '70s and '80s. He wasn't born then,” said Gavaskar in the post-match show on Star Sports.

“A lot of people still think that cricket started only in the 2000s. But the Indian team won overseas in the '70s. The Indian team also won away in 1986. India also drew series overseas. They lost as other teams did,” he added.
The Indian team on Sunday defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs and completed 2-0 whitewash against the Tigers. For India, the star of the match was pacer Ishant Sharma who got nine wickets in the match. Ishant was well supported by Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami.
Meanwhile, the batting was led by skipper Kohli who continued his sublime form and scored his 27th century in the match.
