IND-W vs AUS-W Women's World Cup 2025 Semifinal 2025: India's star batter Jemimah Rodrigues has said that Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland had sent her a heartwarming message when she had played a match-winning knock and helped the host reach the final, and knocked Australia out of the mega event. Last month, the Alyssa Healy-led side's 16-game unbeaten streak came to an end after losing to the host by five wickets in Navi Mumbai.

Jemimah was the star of that match. Her brilliant, match-winning knock of 127 runs helped the team chase down a record target in the history of this format. They did end up on the losing side, but Sutherland did try to reach out to Jemimah and praised her for the way she performed under pressure.

“After the game, it was heartbreaking for them to lose a semi-final. I know how much it means to Bellsy and how much she loves her cricket, even though she does not always show it," Rodrigues was quoted as saying to Delhi Capitals.

“She (Sutherland) messaged me saying, ‘The character you have shown throughout this tournament has been outstanding. You totally deserve to own that moment tonight," she added.

“I looked at that message and thought, what a person! They had just suffered the most heartbreaking loss, yet she still reached out to a friend to encourage me, even though we were opponents at that moment," she said.

Sutherland, too, had a dream run at the World Cup. She had taken 19 wickets after playing in seven matches, which also includes a five-for against the host, and had scored 117 runs, which also includes an unbeaten 98 against England.

Rodrigues called her one of the top three all-rounders.

“Sutherland is a superstar. Right now, I would rate her among the top three all-rounders in women’s cricket, maybe even the best. I don’t know if she would want me to say this, but she truly sets an example," she concluded.
