IND-W vs NZ-W Women's World Cup 2025: India's star batter Smriti Mandhana surpassed Suzie Bates and became the batter with the second-most tons in this format as she played brilliantly against New Zealand in their group stage match of the ongoing mega event. She is now lying in the second position in the list of women batters who have scored the most centuries in the 50-over format, as she has smashed 14 centuries and is just behind Meg Lanning, who has hit 15 ODI tons.
It was also her third in this tournament, and she had leveled Harmanpreet Kaur's tally for hitting the most hundreds in the World Cup by an Indian player.
On the back of her brilliant form, Mandhana also has the record for smashing the most sixes by a women's player this year, as she has hit 29 sixes under her kitty, and the host might post a mammoth target on the back of her brilliant performance in this tournament.
It was Mandhana's fifth ton this year as she has leveled South Africa's Tazmin Brits record for hitting the most tons in a single year, as she too had hit five centuries in 2025.
Bates took Mandhana's wicket, who had scored 109 runs off 95 balls, where she had hit 10 fours and four sixes.
She had a disappointing start to the ongoing mega event as she had registered low scores against teams like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa. She then bounced back to form, having scored 80 and 88 against Australia and England.
