India vs South Africa 2nd Test: Virat Kohli's brilliance in Test cricket was massively missed after India's horrible performance in the ongoing second match against South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. India are way behind in the match as South Africa scored 26/0 in their second innings and have a massive lead of 314 runs under their belt.
As India inches closer to yet another series whitewash at home, fans and the former cricketers recalled the way Virat used to play and lead the team in the longest format of the game. Notably, Virat, along with Rohit Sharma, retired from Test cricket earlier this year ahead of the all-important England tour.

The hosts were bowled out for just 201 runs in their first innings after allowing the Proteas to score 489 in the first two days. While the Indian team faces a lot of criticism amid their ongoing performances, Virat Kohli has received a message from his former India U-19 and RCB teammate Shreevats Goswami. "Ideally, Virat should have left playing ODIs & continued playing test cricket until he had nothing to give. Test cricket misses him. Not just as a player but just the energy he brought, the love & passion playing for India, where he made the team believe that they can win in any condition," Goswami wrote on X.

According to the legendary Indian spinner Kumble, the recent retirements of some big players have left the team's batting order in unfamiliar territory. "The other aspect of also, you know, I want to bring this point about India's batting. Over the last three or four years, you have seen four batters in the top five either retire or not be picked," he said.
"You know, if it is, you know, Virat Kohli is retired, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, then you have, of course... Rahane. So four out of five, plus Shubman Gill isn't in this lineup. Yes, India did miss Shubman, the captain, but also, more importantly, missed him as a batter," Kumble added.
Virat ended his career with 9230 runs in 123 career matches at an average of 46.85 on the back of 31 fifties, 30 centuries and seven double centuries.
