DC vs KKR, IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 clash in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

It was Delhi Capitals' second such offence in the ongoing tournament after staying behind the clock in completing overs against Chennai Super Kings at their first match in Vizag. Pant was then fined Rs 12 lakh for committing the offence for the first time in the IPL 2024 and his teammates were barred from any sanction.

"As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," the IPL said in a statement.

KKR crushed Delhi Capitals by 106 runs in a horror night for the home side. Opting to bat first, opener Sunil Narine blasted 85 runs off 39 balls studded with seven sixes and as many fours while debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi smashed 27-ball 57 including three sixes and four fours before Andre Russell played a 41-run blitz off 19 balls to power KKR to 272/7, the second highest total in tournament's history.

Except for Sumit Kumar, no other Delhi bowlers had an economy of less than 10. South African pacer Anrich Nortje was the costliest bowler of the night with 3-59 in his four overs.

Chasing the gigantic target, Delhi Capitals had a turbulent start to the innings with the top four batters departing cheaply inside the first five overs.

Captain Pant (55) and Tristan Stubbs (54) smashed half-centuries to keep the side alive in the encounter but the wicketkeeper-batter's fall in the 13th over followed by his partner's departure in the 15th over, closed all doors of a comeback for Delhi Capitals.

DC finished the innings for 166/10 in 17.2 overs and dropped to ninth place in the IPL 2024 points table. KKR decimated Delhi Capitals by 106 runs to continue their winning run in the IPL 2024.

Meanwhile, KKR returned to the top spot with six points in three matches after a hat-trick of wins in the tournament.
