IPL 2026 Auction: In another high-profile move, senior India pacer Mohammed Shami is all set to join the Lucknow Super Giants from Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 026 auction. Both parties have agreed to a likely all-cash deal worth Rs 10 crore.

With SRH releasing him after just one season, several teams were vying for Shami's signing, with franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) rumoured to be interested in a trade deal. However, it looks like Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have won the race.

LSG all but confirmed Shami's arrival to their franchise through their latest post on their X account. LSG posted a picture of the iconic set of deliveries that the right-arm pacer bowled to Ben Stokes, before finally getting him out during the ODI World Cup 2023 match between India and England in the Group Stage. This match happened at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow, the franchise's home ground.

"Just thinking about this Ekana moment for no reason," they captioned the post.

Having played for franchises like the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and SRH, Shami has 119 IPL career matches so far and has 133 wickets to his name at an average of 28.18.

Amid the recent fitness issues, Shami managed to get six wickets in nine matches for SRH in the IPL 2025 before he lost his place in the Indian team as well. At the age of 35, it's likely that Shami has played his last for India as the selectors continue to ignore him despite his effort of 15 wickets in three matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament.

Former SRH bowling coach recently made a revelation that there was a time when he desperately wanted to have Shami in the franchise's ranks, but his request landed on deaf ears. However, Steyn went on to mention that a lot of time has passed since, and given the recent scenarios, the future doesn’t look too bright for the veteran India quick.
