IPL 2026: Ahead of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo faced public backlash after his unintended comments at a press conference went viral. He did not realise the microphones were on when he spoke.

Abhishek Nayar, head coach, assistant coach Shane Watson, and captain Ajinkya Rahane attended the press conference with Bravo. As they greeted one another, Bravo said, "When these guys called me, I had two chicks at my home," apparently speaking to Watson and gesturing toward Nayar. The cameras and microphones captured this moment, which soon spread on social media.

Rahane quickly informed Bravo that the microphones were on, prompting an embarrassed reaction. Afterwards, the group acted more cautiously.

Bravo has been facing backlash on social media. A user named @93yorker criticised him on X, saying Bravo's comments were sexualizing and boastful, and that he was attending a press conference with his coach and captain. Bravo didn’t know the Mics were on when he said, "I had 2 chicks (girlfriends) at my house." When Rahane told him the mic was on his face, it was completely off. Such a shame that he is part of IPL with this mindset," the user had written on his X account.

“This is disappointing if true. Professional environments demand respect, especially on a mic, whether you think it’s live or not. Players represent more than just themselves. Hope there’s accountability,” another user, QueryWithMe, had replied to that post.

The identities of the two women Bravo mentioned remain unknown. They could be friends, but judging Bravo solely on this video is not advised. Players and former players must stay vigilant, as a single controversial statement can end careers and cause embarrassment.

Fans recalled Hardik Pandya's previous controversy for offensive remarks and apology on a chat show. Comments on Koffee with Karan: I would like to apologise to everyone I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the show's nature. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments,” he said.
