Ishan Kishan has been in the news since his omission from India's squad for the ongoing Afghanistan T20I series despite being the preferred wicketkeeper-batter for the side in the format.

On his exclusion from the home T20Is after opting for rest from the South Africa tour, reports in the media stated that BCCI omitted him from the Afghan series due to disciplinary grounds as he was seen partying in Dubai following his request for a break.

Amid all the speculation regarding his omission from the Indian side, Kishan posted a cryptic video of him meditating and doing light training on the field.

Earlier, India head coach Rahul Dravid, on the eve of the series opener, said that Kishan did not make himself available for the selection.

"He asked for the rest. I do not think he has made himself available for selection yet. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and officially make himself available for selection," Dravid had said.

Kishan last featured in the first three T20Is against Australia and was left out of the last two matches to prepare for the South Africa tour. He was picked for the T20I and Test series against South Africa.

The 25-year-old prolific wicketkeeper is in contention to play in this year's T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Kishan will now be seen donning the Mumbai Indians jersey in the upcoming edition of the IPL, likely to start in the third week of March. He was retained by the five-time champions ahead of the last month's auction in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma-led India won the first T20I against Afghanistan by six wickets to lead the series 1-0. The second T20I between India and Afghanistan will take place at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, January 14.
