KKR vs RCB, IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their title defence when they face rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match of the IPL 2025 at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 22.
KKR are the defending champions, having won their third IPL title last year. They were the most consistent side last season and ended up beating the dangerous Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
They will be captained by the veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane as Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega auction. They managed to get back some of their players from the last season like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy and others.
On the other hand, Rajat Patidar will be leading RCB as the Reds aim to win their maiden IPL title. He will have the support of experienced campaigners like Virat Kohli, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and others.
RCB had a promising campaign last season as they made it to the playoffs but lost the Eliminator clash against Rajasthan Royals.
