Ranji Trophy 2025: Meghalaya's star batter Akash Kumar Choudhary has scripted history as he has become the first batter in the history of this format to have hit eight consecutive sixes. He achieved this milestone in the Ranji Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat, where he had also hit the fastest fifty.
He scored an unbeaten knock of 50 runs off 14 balls and helped the team post a first innings target of 628/6. In his aggressive knock, he had hit eight consecutive sixes, which also included six sixes in one over.
After his innings, he entered an elite list which had the likes of Sir Garfield Sobers and Ravi Shastri, as they are the two batters to have smashed six sixes in one over of this format.
Sir Garfield Sobers had become the first batter to have achieved this milestone way back in 1968 while representing Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan, whereas Ravi Shastri achieved this feat in the 1984 Ranji Trophy match against Baroda.
Arunachal Pradesh's Limar Dabi faced the wrath of Akash Choudhary's onslaught, who took him to the cleaners on Day 2. The youngster, who also brought up his fastest fifty of 11 balls, broke Wayne White's record of smashing a fifty of just 12 balls against Essendon in 2012.
