MI vs DC, IPL 2024: Romario Shepherd smashed 32 off the last over for Mumbai Indians to take their total to 234/5 in their 20 overs against Delhi Capitals.

The massive crowd at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April witnessed the raining of boundaries with Romario providing a finish MI would have dearly hoped for.

The West Indies' all-rounder smashed four sixes and two fours in the last over bowled by Anrich Nortje who ended up with expensive figures of 65 runs in his four overs despite taking two wickets.

Romario scored 39 off just 10 balls on the back of three fours and four sixes whereas Tim David remained unbeaten at the other end on 45 off 21.

The partnership between Shepherd and David witnessed 53 runs being scored for the sixth wicket in just 13 balls.

Romario played outrageous shots in the last over with skipper Hardik Pandya and other MI players celebrating with surprising reactions.

But he ended up playing the jaw-dropping helicopter shot on the last ball that even forced the great Sachin Tendulkar to just stand and applaud.

"One went out of the ground and everyone in the stands enjoyed that. Great effort today, we had to stand up after a tough start to the season. Shepherd put the hammer down in that last over. Off pace deliveries didn't feel like bouncing up high. Perfect finish (last over) and we have got some momentum," Tim David said at the mid-innings break.

The five-time champions ended up scoring 96 runs in the final five overs to register their third highest-ever total in the IPL history.

MI were put into bat first had a fiery start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan dealing in boudaries in the early overs.

DC did well with a little comeback, denying both the openers their fifties and dismissing Suryakumar Yadav for 0.

While Rohit and Kishan scored 49 and 42 respectively, skipper Hardik Pandya contributed with 39 off 33 with the help of three fours and one six.
