Asia Cup 2025: ACC president and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has been surrounded by controversies and has faced BCCI's flak for his actions during the Asia Cup summit clash in 2025. Naqvi was seen walking away with the trophy after the Men in Blue didn't take the trophy from him.

According to a report, Naqvi has said that the trophy will stay at the ACC headquarters in Dubai and will not be given to the Suryakumar Yadav-led side without his approval. He personally wants to give the trophy to the Indian players even though they had raised objections.

As per PTI, there are speculations that BCCI has demanded that Naqvi be removed as the director of the ICC.

“It remains to be seen what will be the long term ramifications for the PCB or Naqvi because the BCCI is clear he (Naqvi) didn’t have any right to insist on handing the trophy himself to the Indian team and refusing to send it to the BCCI who were the official hosts of the event," a source was quoted as saying to PTI.

IND-PAK Hostilities Overshadow Asia Cup

The Indian team's refusal to shake hands with the Salman Ali Agha-led side led to a series of events that overshadowed the tournament. PCB tried to get the on-field umpire sacked after accusing him of overstepping by telling Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with the India skipper in their first group match.

They also threatened to boycott their group stage match against the host if their demands were not met. In their Super 4 match, India and Pakistan players were a part of several on-field exchanges.

These gestures by the players of both teams led to sanctions by the ICC when both the BCCI and the PCB filed complaints. Both teams played against each other for the 3rd time in the final, where India won the trophy.
