MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings captain, is gearing up for a return to action as he aims to gain full fitness for the IPL 2024.

Dhoni, who only plays IPL cricket, promised his fans after leading CSK to the fifth title, to return for one more year before retiring from the game.

He suffered some fitness issues as he underwent a knee surgery right after the IPL 2023 and has been recovering from the same as a doubt remains over his availability for the whole of season 17.

Dhoni has been creating a buzz on social media, having attended a few social gatherings since the start of the new year. But, it was the first time this year that he was seen training.

With about three months to go for the IPL 2024, Dhoni is back in action with his preparations as his form with the bat will be key in what will most likely be his last season in the T20 league as a player.

The Chennai Super Kings have won the IPL 5 times in history and they would be keen to do the same in Dhoni's farewell campaign.

“Circumstantially, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over, the easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be to work hard for nine months and try to play another IPL," Dhoni had said after lifting the Cup last season.

“It would be a gift from me, won’t be easy on the body,” he added.
