Mohammad Shami has been at the top of the headlines despite being out of action due to an injury as he recently won the prestigious Arjuna Award, the second-highest sporting honor.
Shami penned a heartfelt note after the monumental achievement as the star Indian pacer shared a post on his official social media handles, thanking his family members and friends & fans for the support.
The 33-year-old set the ODI World Cup 2023 on fire with his remarkable bowling performances as he ended up being the leading wicket-taker in the tournament despite missing out on the first few matches in the marquee tournament.

He finished with 24 wickets in just seven games leading India to the finals.

Shami also surpassed the legendary Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to become Indiaโs highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cups. He now has 55 wickets in the marquee tournament.
โI donโt have words to explain that how I started my journey from Amroha to Indian cricket. Passion is always there and I always try to play as much as I can and do well for the country,โ Shami had spoken earlier.

The pacer revealed that he was playing through injuries in the ODI World Cup according to reports, and was ruled out after the tournament after failing to clear the medical tests by the BCCI.

Shami has been out of the action since then, missing the T20I series against Australia at home followed by the all-format tour to South Africa.
He was expected to make it to the Test series against the Proteas but couldn't recover on time as he aims for a massive comeback and make a statement once again with performances in the IPL to warrant his selection for Indiaโs T20 World Cup squad later on in 2024.
