New Zealand vs Bangladesh: New Zealand have made changes to their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh as captain Kane Williamson and fast bowler Kyle Jamieson have been withdrawn as a precautionary measure.

The decision has been taken in order to manage the workload of the duo and keep both the players fit and ready for the remainder of the home series which includes the Test series against South Africa and Australia.

World Cup star Rachin Ravindra and seamer Jacob Duffy have been added to the squad whereas the team will now be captained by Mitchell Santner.

Williamson was named captain for the T20I series as he was set to make his return in the format for the first time in more than a year.

He missed out on a few major international assignments after picking up an injury in his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in the opening game of the IPL 2023 and only returned for the recently concluded World Cup in India.

On the other hand, the 28-year-old Jamieson has had a career so far full of injuries since bursting onto the international scene three years ago.

He had recently complained of tightness in his right hamstring and was not risked for the ODIs and was replaced in the squad by Ben Sears.

"We want both Kane and Kyle to be in the best possible place leading into the next block of Test cricket against South Africa and Australia," head coach Gary Stead said. "Based on discussions with the medical staff and the players it was decided a period of rehabilitation and conditioning was the best option for both of them."

"Jacob is an experienced T20 cricketer and always brings a lot when he is part of the Black Caps environment. He's worked very hard on his white-ball skills in recent seasons," Stead said of the replacements."Rachin adds to any environment he's a part of and has a great desire to learn and develop his game - across all three formats."

New Zealand's T20I squad will reach Napier on Boxing Day ahead of their first match of the series which will be played at McLean Park on Wednesday, December 27.

The remaining two matches of the series will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on December 19 and December 31 respectively.
