IND vs NZ 1st T20I Live Streaming: Shreyas Iyer-led India are in New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, which begins on October 22. The first match will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch as India look to put their recent struggles behind them and make a strong start to the tour.

India are coming into the series after a disappointing end to their five-match T20I series against the West Indies at home. The final match in Bengaluru was washed out due to rain, resulting in a 2-2 draw. With little time to recover from a packed schedule and the long journey to New Zealand, India will face a tough challenge against the hosts in the series opener.

The team has barely had any time to settle in Christchurch, having managed just one training session ahead of the first match. India’s busy schedule has taken a toll, with their Asian Games gold medal-winning campaign in Japan ending on October 3, followed by the West Indies series that began in Lucknow just three days later. The series finale in Bengaluru was washed out on October 17, leaving the players with little time to rest before travelling overseas.

However, India have a major boost with the return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar to the squad. The experienced pacer enjoyed an impressive IPL 2026 campaign and is expected to play a key role in the pace attack in Bumrah’s absence.

Hagley Oval Pitch Report

The weather in Christchurch has been pleasant in the days leading up to the series, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid-20s. However, conditions could change quickly as evening approaches, with temperatures expected to drop around match time.

The first T20I is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM local time. The cooler conditions could make life challenging for the players, while dew may also come into play as the match progresses. India will also be playing their first-ever T20I at Hagley Oval.
