Asia Cup 2025 Points Table: While batting first, Sri Lanka had a flying start, as they had scored 43 runs and had lost just two wickets during the first five overs. After Kusal Perera's wicket, the team suffered a batting collapse, and they were reeling at 80/6. They also had a hard time scoring runs during the middle overs, as they could score just 35 runs between six and 15 overs, as the Pakistan bowlers bowled brilliantly.

Abrar Ahmed was the pick among the bowlers as he registered figures in the 4 overs that he bowled, whereas Hussain Talat also tried to stop the Sri Lankan batters from scoring runs as he gave away 18 runs and took two wickets. Kamindu Mendis helped Sri Lanka bounce back as he scored his half-century off 43 balls and then got dismissed on the next ball itself. Wanindu Hasaranga also scored a gritty knock of 15 runs, whereas Chamika Karunaratne helped them post a target of 133/8.

It was supposed to be an easy run chase for the Men in Green, but ended up being quite difficult. They were able to score runs and were 48/2 during the power play, but spinners Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana took wickets at regular intervals. They could only score 34 runs during the next six overs and were under immense pressure. Talat and Mohammad Nawaz took the team across the line.
