India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup: The Pakistan and Bangladesh cricket boards' bid for a tri-nation T20 series involving India was overlooked by the International Cricket Council (ICC), which cited the need for approval from India's cricket board and government.
As reported by Cricbuzz, the proposal is understood to have gained traction, with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif now poised to greenlight the initiative after a marathon triple meeting between ICC, PCB, and BCB representatives in Lahore.
A formal announcement is anticipated by day's end, pending a discussion between Prime Minister Sharif and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi.
PCB And BCB's Demand For Tri-series
Speculation suggests the PCB aimed to restore bilateral series with India, not only for Pakistan but also Bangladesh, and had offered a tri-series involving the three teams.
The extent of the PCB and BCB demands accepted remains unclear, but the ICC is doubtful to unilaterally approve bilateral or tri-series involving India.
The ICC's commitment to dialogue and approach is likely to shape the final deal, which will involve middle.
