SMAT 2025: India's star opener Abhishek Sharma has scripted history after smashing a fifty off 12 balls while playing for Punjab in the ongoing Syed Murshtaq Ali Trophy. By achieving this milestone, he followed the footsteps of his mentor Yuvraj Singh, who too had hit a 12-ball fifty against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. It's the same match, where he had hit six sixes in Stuart Broad's over.

Abhishek achieved this feat against Bengal in Hyderabad on Sunday. With this brilliant knock, he had smashed the third-highest half-century and the joint-second fastest by an Indian batter in this format.

He also broke the record after scoring a brilliant hundred off just 32 balls, in which he had seven fours and 11 sixes. He had hit his 4th fastest hundred as an Indian in this format.

He has already hit the joint fastest 100 as an Indian batter, as he achieved this feat off just 28 balls against Meghalaya last year.

He also built a brilliant partnership with Prabsimran Singh for the first wicket of 205 runs. Prabsimran Singh too scored a brilliant knock of 70 runs off 35 balls, in which he had hit eight fours and 4 sixes.

Abhishek finally got out after scoring 148 runs off 52 balls, in which he had hit eight fours and 16 sixes. Ramandeep and Sanvir Singh also made significant contributions and helped the team pot a target of 310/5.
