IND vs SA: The host will aim to bounce back after losing the home Test series to South Africa by 2-0 as they will lock horns with the same opponent for the 1st ODI in Ranchi. KL Rahul will be leading the team from the front in Shubman Gill's absence and will also be the team's preferred wicketkeeper. The Indian batters were slammed heavily since the last few days for their disappointing performances against spinners in the Test series. But with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's return to the ODI team, all eyes will be on these star batters and how they will perform in the ODI match.
Rohit Sharma will be opening the innings along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, as Virat Kohli will bat at the No.3 position. There will be a tough battle for the No.4 position between Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Although, as per some reports, Ruturaj might play as a No.4 batter, whereas Pant might play purely as a specialist batter.
Rahul will be batting at the No.5 position as the all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar will be the other two batters. They will also be managing the spin department along with Kuldeep Yadav.

As far as the fast bowling is concerned, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna comprise this lineup in Jasprit Bumrah's absence.
