IND vs SA 1st ODI Weather and Pitch Report: India will enter the ODI series aiming to bounce back after losing the home Test series 2-0 to South Africa. As the first match of the ODI series will be held in Ranchi, the host will try to begin this series on a high note.

KL Rahul will be leading the team from the front in Shubman Gill's absence, who has been ruled out of this series due to an injury. He also didn't play in the second Test in Guwahati as he got injured in the series opener in Kolkata. Shreyas Iyer isn't a part of this series as he was injured in the series against Australia. But the host got a huge boost after senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to the side. The duo, who retired from both Tests and T20Is, will now just be playing in the 50-over format as they want to play till the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The surface in Ranchi has always been well-balanced for both batters and bowlers, even though it might sometimes become batter-friendly. It does provide good bounce, which will help the fast bowlers, whereas the spinners too will get help as the match goes on. When the lights are on, the spinners will get help from extra grip and turns, but chasing might become easier as dew will also play a huge role at night.
