Shikhar Dhawan Retirement: Shikhar Dhawan surprised everyone on Saturday morning as he posted an emotional video on his social media platforms to announce his retirement from all forms of cricket.

He posted on social media: “As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for your love and support! Jai Hind!”

Dhawan represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is for India. His best was in the 50-over format as he amassed 6793 runs at an average of 44.11 and scored 2315 Test runs at an average of 40.61.

He was one of the finest openers in modern cricket, especially in the ODI format where he paired with Rohit Sharma and won so many games for India.

The legendary top three trio of Dhawan, Rohit and Virat Kohli was the major highlight for Indian cricket in white-ball cricket for so many years and provided fans with a notable amount of memorable instances to cheer.

Dhawan was also known for his consistency and crucial contributions with the bat in ICC tournaments.

He played a key role in India's title victory in the ICC Champions 2013, having smashed 363 runs in five matches at an average of 90.75 on the back of one fifty and two hundred.

Dhawan also was the top run-getter for the Men in Blue in the 2015 ODI World Cup as he scored 412 runs in eight games at an average of 51.50.

He continued his remarkable form in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and once again scored the most runs for India. He smashed 338 runs in five matches at an average of 67.60.

Former Pakistan cricketer Saeed Anwar was quick to react and congratulated Shikhar Dhawan on his career.
