T20 World Cup 2026: The Men in Blue qualified for the Super 8 of the ongoing mega event quite comprehensively as they had beaten arch-rivals Pakistan by 61 runs in Colombo last week. The hype around this high-octane clash was surrounded by controversies along with high expectations owing to Pakistan's recent form and the tricky pitches in Sri Lanka. But these issues were quickly resolved. Ishan Kishan's match-winning knock of 77 runs off 44 balls had set the foundation for the win, and then the bowlers too had performed well and extended India's head-to-head record to 8-1 against the Men in Green in this tournament.

Now that the Suryakumar Yadav-led side had already qualified, Pakistan's future in this tournament hangs by a thread. They need to win their last group stage match to keep their Super 8s hopes alive. They will lock horns with Namibia in Colombo for their last match.

Will There Be Another India-Pakistan Clash?

Short answer: Yes.

But these two arch-rivals will only face each other during a semifinal or a summit clash.

If Pakistan does beat Namibia, then they too will reach the next round. And according to the rules of this tournament, they will be put into Group 2 along with teams like New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side has been put into Group 1, which has teams like South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.

As per the rules of the Super 8s, a team will only face opponents of their groups, and that rules out the possibility of a high-octane India vs Pakistan clash in this round.

The top two teams from both these groups will then qualify for the semifinal, where the table topper of Group 1 will lock horns with the runners-up of Group 2. In order to have an India vs Pakistan semifinal, one team will have to finish as the table topper and the other will have to finish in second position.

If both these teams finish as the table toppers or the runners up, then they will have to win their respective semifinals and then face each other in the summit clash next month.

Namibia to Spoil the Party?

All of these calculations will depend on how the Men in Green will first clear their group stage. They are in a must-win situation when they face Namibia in their last group stage match. If they lose this match, then their campaign will come to an end and will give the USA a chance to qualify for the Super 8, since they too have the same points but a poor NRR.
