T20 World Cup 2026 Points Table: India kicked off their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a remarkable performance against the USA in match 3, registering a 29-run victory at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, February 7. Both the group A matches witnessed thrilling action, whereas the West Indies defeated Scotland by 35 runs in the group C match at the Eden Gardens.

India remained at the top of Group A, getting a major boost in their net run rate. After being put into bat first, India were off to a horrible start as they had an early collapse and were reduced to 77/6 in 11.4 overs. While the USA were way ahead in the game on the back of an exceptional bowling performance, skipper Suryakumar Yadav kept India's hopes alive in the middle. He ended up putting in a long fight and took the team to a challenging total of 161/9 in their 20 overs.

Suryakumar played a memorable knock of unbeaten 84 runs in 49 balls on the back of 10 fours and four sixes. Having played the waiting game early in his innings, Suryakumar looked lethal towards the end and smashed the USA bowlers all around the park, smashing the boundaries for fun. Chasing the target, the USA were nowhere in the picture as they were kept on the backfoot by some outstanding new-ball bowling from Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. The USA were restricted to 132/8 in their 20 overs. For India, Siraj was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets to his name for 29 runs in his three overs, whereas Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel found a couple of scalps each.

Earlier in the opening day, Pakistan defeated the Netherlands by 3 wickets in the low-scoring, thrilling contest before the West Indies got the better of Scotland by 35 runs.
