Team India received a warm welcome at the IGI Airport amid pro-India chants. They were received by BCCI Chief Roger Binny and Cricket Governing Council Secretary Jai Shah.
The players were taken to the ITC Maurya Hotel for refreshments. Outside Delhi airport and ITC Maurya, fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite cricketers. Hearing the beats of the dhol, Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Rohit Sharma couldn't contain their excitement and danced along with the performers.
The Indian Team was supposed to leave early but unpleasant weather conditions prevented them from leaving Barbados. They were to take flight to the USA from Barbados and then fly to India via the UAE. However, BCCI arranged a special chartered flight for the entire team and their families to India.
On 29 June, India defeated South Africa at Barbados by seven runs in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 finals.
