Mukul Roy Health Update: Senior Trinamool Congress leader and former Railways minister Mukul Roy was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after he fell in the bathroom at his home and lost consciousness, news agency PTI reported citing an official of the medical establishment. Mukul’s son Subhrangshu Roy also confirmed the news.
70-year-old Mukul Roy sustained head injuries after he slipped in the bathroom on Wednesday evening. His condition is somewhat stable but critical as the hospital authorities have constituted a team of doctors to monitor him.
According to an official, Mukul Roy, who has been suffering from neurological ailments, also vomited before he lost consciousness. "Necessary medical tests have been done and we are waiting for the reports to decide on the next course of treatment," the official told news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, Mukul Roy’s son said that his father sustained a head injury and fell unconscious. "Baba fell while going to the bathroom at home. He had a head injury. He vomited and fell unconscious. We took him to the hospital." Subhrangshu Roy told PTI. Mukul Roy, who has been suffering from dementia, is one of the founding members of the Trinamool Congress.
Mukul Roy had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017 and had won from Krishnanagar Uttar constituency in the 2021 Assembly polls. However, he returned to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led TMC afterwards.
