New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Team India head coach Ravi Shastri in a recent interview threw light on the future of MS Dhoni and how young talents like Rishabh Pant needs to be backed. He began by praising the team for the 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh. The intensity shown by the team is fabulous especially after they bounced back losing the semi-final in Manchester earlier. The boys have been performing unbelievably in the last three months, Shastri said.

Stressing the importance of World T20 and former skipper MS Dhoni, Shastri asked for patience till IPL. "It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL. What I would say is rather than speculating on who is where, wait for the IPL to get over and then you are in a position to take a call on who are the best 17 in the country," he said as quoted by IANS.

Shastri then went on to praise Sourav Ganguly, who recently became President of the BCCI. The 57-year-old said he was the first one to congratulate Sourav when he became the President. "Sourav having been a fabulous player and captain and been around as an administrator, him becoming the President adds a lot of value," IANS quoted him as saying.

The former cricketer felt that Ganguly and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) did a brilliant job in hosting the pinkball day-night Test match. He felt that Sourav and administration involved at Eden Gardens left no stones unturned. "The crowd too responded magnificently."

From former skipper to the young lad, Rishabh Pant, Shastri said, there is a superstar in him who just needs to be given the cushion to settle down.
