Women's T20 World Cup 2024: The Women in Blue will begin their campaign at the Women's T20 World Cup on October 4, Friday. They are eyeing their maiden ICC title and are considered one of the favorites to win the coveted title apart from England and Australia.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side are not playing the first match of the tournament this time. The mega-event will begin on October 3 in the UAE, where hosts Bangladesh will lock horns with debutant Scotland in the first match. Around 10 teams will participate in the ninth season of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 and have been put into two groups- Group A and Group B.
The venue of this mega-event was shifted from Bangladesh to the UAE owing to political unrest in Bangladesh. The format of the tournament remains the same despite the change in the venue as 23 matches will be held for the next 18 days and the summit clash will be held on October 20 as that's when the new T20 World Cup winner will be declared. Teams like Australia, England, and India are considered as the favorites while the other teams would also try to create an impact and fight to lift the trophy.

Women's T20 World Cup: Where to watch India matches?
The Women's 2024 T20 World Cup matches would be telecasted live on Star Sports network and it would be live streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar app.
Besides promoting women's cricket, in what is considered a historic move, the ICC has revealed that the prize money of the Women's T20 World Cup would be the same as that of the men's edition. It's the first time in the history of the sport that both men's and women's editions would be getting the same prize money.
The champions of the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup would be paid USD 2.34 million, which is 134% more than the USD 1 million given to Australia in South Africa last year. This move will create a new direction for gender equality in this sport and also encourage other sporting organizations to do the same.
