WTC Points Table (2025-27), Updated Standings After ENG vs IND 5th Test: India got off to a promising start in the new World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle as they played a 2-2 draw in the five-match Test series against England.

India bounced back and produced a heroic effort to beat England by just 6 runs in the thrilling fifth and final Test at the Kennington Oval in London on Monday. This was India's first assignment under new Test skipper Shubman Gill, who led from the front with the bat.

With their second win in the fourth edition of the elite Test competition, India jumped to the third position in the updated World Test Championship (WTC) points table. England, on the other hand, slipped to the fourth spot after the defeat. They will rue the two points they lost for maintaining a slow over-rate in the Test at Lord’s.

Notably, India made it to the final of the WTC in the first two editions, but a defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the Australia tour cost them an appearance in the third edition. After a 1-3 defeat in Australia, India's Test witnessed some massive changes as veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin announced retirements from the longest format of the game.

India headed to England with huge inexperience on the side, but the determination to perform helped them achieve a positive result.

Talking about the WTC 2025-27 cycle, Australia currently lead the standings as they started their campaign with a dominating 3-0 whitewash win over West Indies. Sri Lanka, who won their home series against Bangladesh 1-0, are placed second on the table.

Bangladesh and the West Indies are winless so far in the current WTC cycle, while New Zealand, Pakistan, and defending champion South Africa are yet to kick off their campaigns.
