Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh believes the team’s recent poor run on the tour of the United Kingdom should be seen as part of a rebuilding phase. While he admitted the results have been disappointing, he said it is important to stay patient and focus on making the right changes going forward.
Looking back at India’s performances, Yuvraj said inconsistency is common when a team is going through a transition. He also stressed that the players and management now need to learn from the setbacks and come back stronger.

“When things aren’t going well, you start getting confused about whether to play fast bowlers or spinners. It would have been good to play a spinner, but at the end of the day, it’s the team’s call,” Yuvraj told JioStar.
His remarks came after India decided not to include left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI for the third ODI against England at Lord’s. India lost the match by 27 runs and also conceded the three-match ODI series 2-1.
Yuvraj said criticism is part of the game when results don’t go your way. However, he also urged fans not to forget what this Indian side has achieved over the past few years.
“You’ve won the Champions Trophy, you’ve won back-to-back T20 World Cups, and now you’ve lost six T20Is in a row. Somewhere down the line, the game levels everyone, and nobody is bigger than the game. That’s how the game reminds us of that. We need to understand it and accept the criticism,” he added.
The 2011 World Cup winner said India are currently bringing in new players, and such phases are expected during a transition. According to him, the team now needs to assess what went wrong, make improvements, and return with a stronger performance.
“At the same time, people shouldn’t forget what this Indian team has achieved over the last couple of years, winning three major titles. The team is in transition, new players are coming in, and phases like these are bound to happen. Now it’s time to rethink and bounce back,” the former all-rounder stated.
