Although the assembly election is in Bihar, its buzz is also palpable in the Yamunapar area of Delhi. A large number of people from Purvanchal (eastern UP and Bihar) reside here, and the echo of Bihar's issues is resounding here as well. The timing is significant, with both the Chhath festival and the election season arriving together.

In areas with a high Purvanchali population, discussions about Chhath and Bihari politics are common. There is a growing buzz that this time, most people will travel to Bihar for the election rather than for Chhath. Many have already taken leave from their offices for the election.

Discussions about the Bihar election are taking place everywhere, from the narrow lanes of Sonia Vihar to the litti-chokha stalls on Vikas Marg. Some feel that Nitish Kumar will remain unchallenged, while others predict that "Lalu's lantern" (the RJD party symbol) will shine again. The BJP is also being viewed with hope by many.

People from Bihar living in Delhi view this election as an opportunity for change. Issues such as crime, education, health, development, water, roads, and jobs are dominant topics of conversation. They are hoping for development along with change in this election. Biharis residing here say that the kind of development an ordinary citizen expects has not yet taken place in Bihar.

The youth are leaving their home state in search of employment and moving to Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and UP. While urban areas are seeing development, rural regions are still in need of it. On October 22, four notorious criminals from Bihar were gunned down by the Crime Branch in Delhi. This incident was a major topic of discussion among the Purvanchali community on Thursday.

People remarked that the Bihar Police is also "following the path of Yogi Baba" (referring to UP CM Yogi Adityanath's policies). They feel that if this continues, crime will be brought under control. Vimlesh, a resident of Sonia Vihar, noted that many students at Delhi University (DU) and JNU come from Bihar to study. He expressed hope that education will be the biggest issue in the Bihar election.

Youth See Prashant Kishor As A Rising Leader In Bihar

The election in Bihar is traditionally seen as a contest between the parties of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. The people of Bihar have seen these two parties in power for years. However, Prashant Kishor has entered the fray in this election. Young Biharis living in Delhi view Kishor as an emerging leader.

They feel this election will be a triangular contest. They believe Kishor could play the role of a "game-changer" in the Bihar polls. Although Kishor may not have experience in running a government, he is well-versed in how governments are formed.
