The BJP government in Delhi has issued a major transfer order, reshuffling 100 officials from the Delhi government cadre. Among them, 16 Tehsildars and 12 Sub-Registrars posted in key areas have been removed and replaced with new appointees. The Services Department has directed all transferred officers to assume charge immediately.
This is the first large-scale reshuffle since the BJP came to power in Delhi. Sources in the department suggest that the move was aimed at improving administrative efficiency, though complaints against certain officials also played a role.
The order, issued on September 15, removed Sub-Registrar Renu Massy from Vivek Vihar, who faced corruption allegations, including a CBI complaint and a Rs 75,000 bribery case. She has now been posted to the Education Department. Tehsildar Balram Meena has also been shifted. Earlier, Shahdara DM Rishita Gupta, under whose jurisdiction the bribery incident occurred, was transferred to the Municipal Corporation.
Most officials removed were appointed during the tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party government. The reshuffle spans multiple departments, including Revenue, Home, Education, and Health.
Key Details of the Reshuffle:
- 16 Tehsildars replaced in areas including Rohini, Saket, Vasant Vihar, Kapashera, Defence Colony, Najafgarh, Punjabi Bagh, Gandhinagar, Mehrauli, Narela, Alipur, Seemapuri, Vivek Vihar and others.
- In Alipur, Kanjhawala, Defence Colony, and Seemapuri, Tehsildar posts have gone to officials under 35 years, raising questions within the Revenue Department, where experienced officers usually serve.
- 12 new Sub-Registrars appointed in areas such as Kanjhawala, Vivek Vihar, Seemapuri, Libaspur, Rohini, Kalkaji, Pitampura, Kashmere Gate (I & II), Narela, Nangloi/Punjabi Bagh, Lajpat Nagar/Defence Colony, and Hauz Khas. Many women Sub-Registrars have been replaced by men, several of whom are also under 35.
