Budget 2026: The Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27 was presented on Sunday, with a major focus on improving infrastructure development, healthcare, public transport, and water supply systems in the national capital Delhi. The centre has allocated funds to expand the metro services, improve connectivity with the other nearby cities, improve healthcare, and modernize the Delhi Police. The construction of the super-specialty OPD block at AIIMS is likely to begin soon, as the funds for healthcare have been significantly increased.

Budget 2026: What's For Delhi?

- The state government will receive Rs 1,348 crore in the financial year 2026-27 for funding its schemes and projects run by foreign agencies

- Delhi, Puducherry, and Jammu and Kashmir have been allocated Rs 77,000 crore for central government schemes

- The centre has allocated Rs 10,121 crore for AIIMS, Safdarjung, RML, Sucheta Kriplani, and Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital

- All India Institute of Ayurveda has been allocated an additional amount of Rs 977.92 crore

- The metro network will witness major expansion in the upcoming financial year

- The centre has allocated Rs 2,200 crore for the expansion of the Regional Rail Transit System (RRTS)

- Construction work for the Delhi-Alwar corridor is expected to begin in the upcoming months

- The Delhi Police have been allocated Rs 12,846.13 crore, Rs 307.13 crore more than last year

- The Chandrawal water treatment project has been allocated Rs 380 crore to improve the water supply in the national capital

- The centre has also allocated Rs 5.78 crore for the Delhi Urban Art Commission, Rs 470 crore for the NCR Planning Board, and Rs 8 crore for the Rajghat Samadhi Committee and its canteen

While praising the union budget, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the national capital is set to witness significant growth in upcoming months. "No amount of praise for this budget is enough; it has taken care of every section of society," she stated in her post on X.
