Weather Update: Severe cold conditions continue to grip several parts of North India. However, the weather pattern is set to change as an active western disturbance begins to sweep across the region, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between February 2 and 4, 2026. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the impact of this disturbance will be felt across Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

The weather shift is likely to intensify cold conditions across the region, with the minimum temperature expected to drop further.

Western Disturbance To Bring Rain To North India

- In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that two successive western disturbances are set to bring widespread rain and snowfall across the western Himalayan region.

- Under the influence of the western disturbances, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, and gusty winds is also likely in northwest and central India between February 1 and 3.

- This weather shift is likely to intensify cold conditions across the region, with the minimum temperature expected to drop further.

Delhi Weather Forecast

- Under the influence of an active western disturbance, Delhi and its adjoining areas received light rainfall during the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026.

- Another western disturbance is expected to bring light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds to Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida over the coming days.

- The IMD has warned of a sharp dip of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures, with visibility likely dropping to near zero during morning hours.

Snowfall In Himachal Pradesh And Jammu-Kashmir

- Parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh received a fresh spell of light snowfall and rain on Sunday, marking the onset of another weather disturbance in the western Himalayan region.

- Prompting this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for several districts over the next 48 hours, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
