The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has instructed affiliated schools to upload mandatory information related to teachers on their websites in a timely manner and to update it regularly. The board issued a guideline in this regard on January 12, 2026, asking all school principals to strictly adhere to the rules of Mandatory Public Disclosure.
Required Information On Teachers
The CBSE has clarified that schools must upload details related to teachers' names, educational qualifications, training, and experience, along with certified documents, on their websites. This information must be provided to the board in the prescribed format to ensure transparency in the operation of schools. According to the board, this information is extremely important for parents, so they can be aware of the teaching facilities and academic structure available in the schools.
Website Maintenance And Annual Reports
The board stated that under the affiliation bye-laws, it is mandatory for schools to develop and maintain an updated website. The website should provide information such as the school's affiliation status, infrastructure, details of teachers, number of students, contact details, fee structure and transfer certificates.
The CBSE has also directed that all schools must prepare their annual report each year and upload it to the website before September 15. This report should include details of the academic calendar, academic achievements, innovations, efforts related to environmental education, PTA activities and important decisions of the School Management Committee (SMC).

Strict Guidelines On Teacher-Student Ratio
The board also addressed the teacher-student ratio, stating that the ratio in schools should not exceed 30:1. Furthermore, each section must have at least 1.5 teachers, excluding the principal, physical education teachers and counsellors.
Warning Against Non-Compliance
The CBSE has stated that despite repeated instructions, many schools are either not updating the information on their websites or are uploading incorrect and incomplete details. The board has warned that failure to comply with these instructions could result in action and penalties under the affiliation bye-laws.
