This year, Delhi's Chhath Puja celebrations will feature extensive arrangements to promote the folk culture and traditions of Purvanchal. Art, Culture And Language and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra announced after a high-level meeting that artists from Purvanchal have been invited to perform folk songs, dances, and other cultural programs at more than 200 locations across the city.
According to the government's plan, ghats will be elaborately decorated with grand welcome gates, idols of Chhathi Maiya and Surya Bhagwan, and attractive lighting. Furthermore, select prominent locations will feature "Model Chhath Ghats," designed to set a high standard for both decoration and public facilities. The festival is set to be celebrated at over 1,000 locations in Delhi.
To streamline preparations, a single-window clearance system has been established for all necessary permissions and NOCs, similar to the process used for other major events like the Kanwar Yatra, Ganeshotsav, and Durga Puja. Nodal officers will be appointed in every municipal corporation zone to coordinate and oversee the arrangements. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been directed to deploy an adequate number of sanitation workers to ensure the regular cleaning of all ghats.
Significantly, after a gap of many years, Chhath Puja celebrations will once again be held at the Yamuna ghats. In addition to these, special large-scale events will be organised at four major sites: Dwarka, Haathi Ghat, Pitampura, and Sonia Vihar.
