A young man riding a motorcycle was killed in a road accident on Tuesday at the Bilaspur cut on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, located in the Nai Mandi Kotwali area. A speeding truck loaded with gravel and crushed stone hit his motorcycle and dragged him for about 100 meters, causing his instant death. The driver fled the scene with the truck but was later apprehended by the police in the Mansoorpur area.

Nai Mandi Kotwali Inspector Brajesh Sharma stated that the victim, 32-year-old Irshad, son of Nisar and a resident of Shernagar, was a daily wage laborer. On Tuesday morning, as usual, he was heading to the Kukra Mandi on his motorcycle. As he reached the Bilaspur cut on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, a truck traveling from Haridwar towards Meerut hit his bike from the side.

The impact caused Irshad to fall onto the road. However, the truck driver did not stop and dragged him for approximately one hundred meters. The accident was so severe that he died on the spot. Upon receiving the information, a team from Nai Mandi Kotwali police arrived at the scene.

The police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination while initiating a search for the absconding truck driver. A short while later, the driver and the truck were taken into custody in the Mansoorpur area.
