Gulriha police have arrested three men and apprehended one juvenile in connection with a case involving the circulation of an objectionable video and a subsequent violent attack. The three adults have been jailed, while the minor has been sent to a remand home after appearing before the juvenile court.
The incident occurred in the Jungle Harpur area. On October 12, a resident named Anuj Kumar filed a complaint stating that several local youths had altered an old video of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, adding objectionable content and posted it online.
According to the complaint, when Anuj Kumar and his friend Pradeep objected to the post, the accused initially abused them over the phone. Later, the accused intercepted Anuj and Pradeep on the road and attacked them with a large curved knife, a sword, knife, and a hockey stick, with the intent to kill. The two men managed to escape. Their shouts for help attracted other villagers, causing the attackers to flee while issuing death threats.
Following the complaint, police arrested the suspects on the afternoon of October 14 near the Fulwariya Road canal culvert.
The arrested adults have been identified as:
21-year-old Shamsher Alam, 20-year-old Aftab and 24-year-old Shehban.
