Delhi-NCR AQI Today: Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘Severe’ category for the second consecutive day on Thursday, crossing the 400 mark. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the capital ranked as the most polluted city in the country, alongside Jind in Haryana. Delhi had logged its first ‘Severe’ air quality day of the season on Tuesday, with an overall AQI of 428, the worst since December 19 last year.
Data from the Decision Support System (DSS) of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) showed that stubble burning contributed 22.47 percent to Delhi’s PM2.5 levels on Wednesday, the highest share this season. The figure surpassed transport emissions, which stood at 15.59 percent, the data revealed.
Area-Wise AQI In Delhi
According to CPCB, Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 407 at 6 a.m. on Thursday, placing it firmly in the ‘Severe’ category. A red alert has been issued at 37 of the 39 monitoring stations across the city, where AQI levels ranged between 300 and 500 — classified as hazardous.

Bawana recorded the highest AQI at 460, followed by Chandni Chowk at 455, Jahangirpuri at 448, and Ashok Vihar at 438. Other severely affected areas included Burari Crossing (433), Anand Vihar (431), Mathura Road (434), Mundka (436), and Nehru Nagar (436). Key locations such as ITO and Narela also recorded an AQI of 434 and 432, respectively.
Moderately lower but still critical readings were reported from Aya Nagar (402), Dwarka Sector 8 (401), Mandir Marg (404), Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (414), and North Campus (415). Lodhi Road, at 319, remained among the few areas with slightly better — though still ‘very poor’, air quality.

Delhi Weather
On Thursday, Delhi recorded a temperature of 19 Degree Celsius with humidity levels at 18 percent. Experts have advised residents to limit outdoor physical activity during peak pollution hours, wear N95 masks when stepping outside, and use air purifiers indoors to minimize exposure to harmful fine particulate matter.
