The DNA tests have confirmed that Dr Umar Nabi was driving the i20 car, which exploded near the Red Fort, killing 13 on Monday evening, while injuring 20 others.
According to the information, the DNA sample from bones, teeth, and clothes of the prime suspect's body matched 100 per cent with Umar's mother and brother. Umar was working as a senior doctor at Faridabad-based Al-Farah University.
Umar's mother was detained from Pulwama for the DNA test. "We have taken the mother of the suspect to collect DNA samples to match them with the parts found at the scene of the blast," a police official was quoted by news agency PTI.
Providing details about the DNA testing, Umar's leg was stuck between the steering wheel and accelerator after the explosion.
Along with her mother, his two brothers were also detained by the police on Monday night, soon after the explosion. The blast took place at 6:52 pm on Monday near Gate No 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station.

According to the police, the i20 car exploded after it slowed down at the red light. The explosion came hours after the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered nearly 3,000 kg of explosives from two residential buildings in Faridabad in Haryana.
Meanwhile, the National Security Guard (NSG) team, accompanied by a sniffer dog, carried out an investigation in Khandawali village, Faridabad, where a red Ford EcoSport was seized.
The vehicle is suspected to be linked with Dr Umar Nabi. News agency ANI cited sources saying that before the car blast on Monday evening, Umar Nabi stayed at a mosque on Asaf Ali Road near Ramlila Maidan.
Soon after leaving the Asaf Ali Road mosque, the accused went straight to the Sunehri Masjid parking lot. At around 3:19 pm, he parked his car in the parking lot. The investigative agencies are probing Umar's mobile phone and signal history.
