Delhi Terminal 2 Airport: Following major renovation works, Delhi Terminal 2 is finally set to be opened for the public from Sunday, October 26. The airport was closed in April for renovations. According to the GMR Group, which operates the airport, the new Terminal 2 has been furnished with the latest features like Self-baggage drop facilities and passenger boarding bridges to provide travelers with a truly seamless experience.
The revamped airport will be handling 120 domestic flights per day from the intervening night of October 25-26, 2025. All flights of Indigo and Air India will shift their operations to the upgraded terminal, according to the airport authorities.

How Does The Self-Baggage Drop Facility Work?
The SBD facility at the T2 terminal will enable passengers to have complete control over their journey and reduce the wait time significantly. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Passengers will have to scan their boarding pass.
Step 2: They have to get their luggage tagged at the boarding counter.
Step 3: Passengers need to drop their luggage (if under the prescribed weight of the airlines), thereby finishing the process within minutes.

Passenger Boarding Bridge
Another feature that will be available in the renovated Terminal 2 is the passenger boarding bridges. These bridges will have autonomous docking technology, the first of its kind implemented in any airport in the country. It allows for quicker and smarter aircraft handling.
“DIAL has procured six state-of-the-art Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) from South Korea, incorporating a range of advanced features designed to enhance passenger convenience, safety, and overall experience. These include elevated ramps to assist wheelchair passengers and optimally adjusted cabins for seamless boarding,” the authorities said.
The PBBs also feature side-covering cushions for improved safety and aesthetics, along with swing doors that ensure operator safety while contributing to a modern design.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) highlighted the coincidence of the timing of the Terminal 2 opening at Delhi Airport with the launch of the winter schedule. Terminal 2 of the Delhi Airport, which was temporarily closed to carry out the upgrade work in April, was built 40 years ago by the Airports Authority of India.
