Delhi Air Pollution: The air quality in the national capital deteriorated further on Wednesday, January 7, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) slipping back into the “very poor” category at 302, after remaining in the “poor” range during the morning hours.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that 28 monitoring stations reported “very poor” air quality, while nine stations recorded “poor” levels and one station registered “moderate” air quality, indicating widespread pollution across the city.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Tuesday voiced serious concern over Delhi’s worsening pollution levels and directed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to urgently determine the primary factors contributing to the decline in air quality before formulating corrective measures.

Delhi Weather 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday, cautioning residents about dense fog during the early morning hours. The department said the weather conditions are likely to affect visibility and disrupt normal activities.

Temperatures are expected to remain low, with the maximum hovering around 16 degree celsius and the minimum near 7 degree celsius, while cold day conditions are likely to persist, providing little relief from the winter chill.

0-50 (Good): Minimal impact on health.

51-100 (Satisfactory): Minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people.

101-200 (Moderate): Breathing discomfort to people with lung problems, asthma and heart diseases.
