In a major crackdown ahead of New Year celebrations, the Crime Branch has busted a drug trafficking gang involved in supplying heroin across Delhi-NCR. Police arrested two key traffickers and recovered 2.034 kilograms of heroin, estimated to be worth ₹10 crore in the international market.
It is suspected that the consignment was procured specifically to meet the high demand for drugs during New Year parties. Along with the contraband, police seized a scooter used for distribution and six mobile phones used to coordinate the syndicate's operations.
The Arrests The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Anshul Rana, a resident of Inderpuri.
- Ganga Prasad (alias Vicky), a resident of Madipur.
The Operation
According to Deputy Commissioner of the Crime Branch, Harsh Indora, the operation began after Head Constable Pramod Kumar received a secret tip-off. The intelligence indicated that Anshul Rana would be arriving near Queen's Valley School in Sector-08, Dwarka, to supply a large quantity of heroin.
Acting on this input, a team was formed under the supervision of ACP Rajpal Dabas and led by Inspector Pawan Singh. Using technical surveillance, the team tracked Anshul's location and apprehended him during a raid near the DDA Sports Complex in Dwarka Sector-8. A search of his bag yielded the 2.034 kg of heroin.

The Chain Of Supply
During interrogation, Anshul revealed that he was part of an organized gang and had purchased the drugs from Ganga Prasad. Following this lead, a second team led by Inspector Satish Malik traced Ganga Prasad’s location to Laxmi Nagar, where he was subsequently arrested.
Modus Operandi
The investigation exposed a well-structured supply chain:
Sourcing: Ganga Prasad procured large quantities of heroin from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
Distribution: He would then sell the bulk supply to Anshul Rana.
Retail: Anshul would distribute the drugs at a higher price to various individuals and retail vendors across Delhi-NCR.
The police are currently interrogating the accused to identify and trace other members of this organised syndicate.
