Work on some tourism-related projects is set to begin in the new year, albeit at a slow pace. To boost tourism, beautification work will commence at the Garden of Five Senses in South Delhi, while improvement work will also be undertaken at Naini Lake in the Model Town area of North Delhi. According to sources, the Delhi government has planned to begin the beautification of key locations across the city. It is believed that once work at these locations is underway, other schemes may also be initiated.
Architect Empanelment And Monument Development
Meanwhile, as part of a major city-wide beautification drive, the Delhi Tourism Department has initiated the process of empanelling architects. The empanelled architects will assist in the planning, design, and implementation of beautification projects for monuments throughout Delhi. This includes considering the installation of facilities and large information boards around monuments, which will provide tourists with detailed information about the site.
Estimated Expenditure: Garden Of Five Senses And Naini Lake
Currently, the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has estimated a cost of Rs 4,875,000 for horticulture and landscaping work at the Garden of Five Senses. A tender has been issued for this, while the government will spend Rs 1,475,000 on the Naini Lake in Model Town under its beautification project.

Horticulture Plans For Garden Of Five Senses
The beautification project at the Garden of Five Senses focuses on rejuvenating the garden's beauty and improving the maintenance of its green spaces. The horticulture plan includes the large-scale planting of seasonal and ornamental flowering plants. The scope of work also includes soil preparation, the use of organic manure, pesticide treatment, pruning, and the replacement of unhealthy or dead plants during the maintenance period. All planting and maintenance activities in the garden will be conducted according to approved horticultural specifications, including digging pits, filling them with a prepared soil mixture, watering, and long-term upkeep.

Redevelopment And Lighting At Naini Lake
Similarly, civil and electrical works will be undertaken at Naini Lake. The redevelopment aims to improve the cleanliness, safety, and public utility of the lake area, which is frequently visited by local residents. The work at Naini Lake will include cleaning the water body, implementing measures to prevent mosquito breeding and malaria, constructing fountains, and installing the related mechanical and electrical equipment. An official stated that electrical work, such as lighting systems and associated infrastructure, will also be carried out to enhance visibility and security around the lake.
