With technical support from IIT Delhi, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has identified 18 new bus routes in the Yamuna Par region as part of its route rationalisation plan. The move aims to boost last-mile connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance integration with Delhi Metro services.

According to the plan, new routes will operate from three major bus depots — East Vinod Nagar, Shastri Park, and Ghazipur. Of these, 11 routes will start from East Vinod Nagar depot, including Patparganj Industrial Area to Priyadarshini Vihar, Ganesh Nagar to Shastri Park Metro, Karkardooma Metro Station to New Mandoli Industrial Area, and Usmanpur-2 Pushta to Mandoli Jail Road.

Other routes will connect Anand Vihar ISBT with Akshardham Metro, Mayur Vihar Phase-I with Mayur Vihar Metro Station, and Geeta Colony with Mansarovar Park Metro, among others.

Four new routes will be launched from Shastri Park depot, connecting areas such as Seelampur Metro Station to Shiv Vihar, Maujpur-Babarpur to Karawal Nagar Terminal, and Gokulpuri Metro Station to Sabhapur village. From Ghazipur depot, three routes are proposed, including Ghazipur Dairy Farm to Mayur Vihar Phase-I Metro, Anand Vihar Metro to Harsh Vihar Jail Road, and Ashok Nagar Extension to the nearest metro station.

The new routes also focus on linking industrial hubs such as New Mandoli, Patparganj, and Tahirpur to public transport, providing direct connectivity for workers.

Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that, alongside route rationalisation, the government is expanding Delhi’s eco-friendly transport network. “In the last six months, 3,800 new electric buses have been added to the DTC fleet, benefiting around 40 lakh passengers daily,” he said. He added that reforms aim to make DTC financially self-reliant and a profit-making entity.

Officials confirmed that the newly approved routes will be rolled out in a phased manner to maximise public benefit.
