Delhi MCD Bypolls Result 2025: The results of the bypoll to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were declared by the State Election Commission, in which the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) once again showed its supremacy in the capital by winning 7 wards out of 12. Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to win 3 wards, while Congress managed to win one. Lesser known, the All India Forward Bloc also bagged one seat.

Litmus Test For CM Rekha Gupta

This was the first election the BJP fought under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. So it was a litmus test for the chief minister. By winning seven out of 12 seats, it can be said that she performed very well with 75% results. However, the saffron party failed to retain 3 seats as out of 12 wards, nine were held by the ruling party. The saffron party also comfortably won the Shalimar Bagh B ward, previously held by CM Gupta, with Anita Jain defeating AAP's Babita Rana by a margin of over 10,000 votes.

AAP's Face-Saving Victory

After an embarrassing defeat to the BJP in the Delhi Assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal's AAP has not shown any drastic change in its strength in its home turf. The Opposition party in Delhi managed to win just 3 wards. For AAP, it was a no-loss affair as it went to the bypoll with three seats. The tally of Kejriwal's party reduced to 99 in the MCD.

Nothing Significant For Congress

The Congress struggled with just one seat. The grand old party, which drew nil in the last three assembly elections in the capital, managed to win the Sangam Vihar ward. Congress candidate Suresh Chaudhary defeated BJP's Subhajit Gautam by 3,628 votes. The ward was previously held by the BJP. Now, Congress has nine seats out of the 250 in the MCD.
